DUBAI: Karachi Kings’ fast bowler Usman Khan Shinwari said on Tuesday that legendary swing bowler Wasim Akram told him that pace is the very first bowling weapon for a fast bowler.

Speaking to Geo.tv at the practice of Kings ahead of the formal start of Pakistan Super League’s fourth edition, the fast bowler said Akram during the net practice gave him valuable tips on his fast bowling.

“Wasim bhai is a big name in cricket. His inclusion in the team would positively affect the bowling team. We try to have maximum time with him to have a maximum learning experience,” he said.

“He has given me tips. I will work on them. He told me about what to bowl in certain situations. How to read batsman.”

Shinwari had an exceptional bowling stint in the Big Bash League by delivering the season’s fastest ball. Playing for the Melbourne Renegades, Shinwari reportedly delivered the ball at an exciting speed of 151 km/hr.

The paceman said that he has aimed to become the leading wicket-taker in the forthcoming edition of the PSL.

“This is my third edition with Karachi Kings. I know that the people of Karachi have madness for cricket. We won’t disappoint them this time.”
